The rooms at Mambembe Hostel are simple but cozy, with comfy beds and a fan to keep you cool. The shared bathrooms are always clean and well-maintained. Plus, the free WiFi is a huge bonus for staying connected with friends and family!
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the shared bathrooms. But hey, that's just me.

I stayed at Mambembe for a year and it was one of the best hostels I've experienced. The staff was great, facilities were clean, and the beds were comfortable with individual outlets, lights, and curtains. The breakfast was delicious and the hostel had various amenities like TVs, Playstations, books, guitars, and a garden for self-laundry. It had a relaxed apartment-like atmosphere, yet located just a short walk away from Rio's best party scene.
Would be happy to recommend!

The breakfast was delicious and had a good variety of options to choose from. the communal areas, such as the garden and rooftop terraces, were great for socializing and relaxing. - the staff spoke English and were very friendly, providing helpful information and recommendations.
The rooms were cramped and felt a bit claustrophobic, especially in the dorms. Some of the staff members were not very attentive or friendly, which was disappointing.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and English-speaking, providing excellent advice on local attractions. The hostel had clean bathrooms with hot water, a good kitchen, and a decent breakfast. I couldn't have asked for more!
Do recommend this hotel.

My stay at Mambembe was exceptional! The value for money was unbeatable, with comfortable beds, privacy curtains, and even personal lamps and sockets. The location was great, close to subways and plenty of things to do. The staff were amazing, making sure I had a fantastic time in Rio and providing great recommendations. Definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in!
The only thing that could have improved the breakfast selection was adding a wider variety of options.

I recently stayed at the Mambembe Hostel for a week-long trip to explore the center and nightlife in Lapa. The vibe was fantastic, with friendly staff and a helpful atmosphere. The location was perfect, and I loved having my own convenient room with curtains, lamps, sockets, and a small shelf. The beds were incredibly comfortable, with curtains that made it feel like I had my own private space. The hostel even had Netflix, which was a nice touch. The view of the hills in Santa Teresa was stunning, and the tram station in front of the hostel made it easy to get around. The staff spoke Portuguese and English fluently, and the owner's Swiss background added an interesting touch.
I highly recommend this hostel.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hostel, it was my favorite one after travelling in South America for 5 months. the staff were really friendly, the place was clean, and there were plenty of common areas to hang out. the high-speed internet was perfect for me as I work remotely. the curtains on each bed gave me a sense of privacy, even when sharing a room with 8 others. Plus, they have Netflix so I could binge-watch my favorite shows whenever I wanted. This place has a homey vibe that made me feel comfortable right away.
I felt right at home in this hostel, there was really no reason to complain.
